The symposium will be held in the framework of the XXXIX RSEF Physics Biennial will be held in Donostia/San Sebastián from July 15 to 19, 2024.

The transition to a carbon-neutral society relies in large part on the development of materials and technologies for improved energy harvesting, conversion, and storage. This is a joint symposium between GEE and GEFES in which we will discuss the latest advances in materials and technologies for solar cells, battery storage, and green hydrogen production. In particular, we will highlight the underlying physics that governs their functioning and the structure-property relationships that can be leveraged to rationally design the next generation of energy technologies. Ranging from material preparation to characterization, from device modelling to their operation and passing through efficiency and sustainability issues, this symposium aims to forge collaborations to accelerate the deployment of materials that will power the energy transition and shape a greener future.
