The 26th Conference of the Condensed Matter Division will be held in Groningen, the Netherlands, from September 5th through 9th, 2016. The conference will encompass all areas of Condensed Matter Physics, from soft matter and biophysics to correlated electron systems and quantum simulators. Following the success of CMD 24 in Edinburgh in 2012 and CMD 25 / Condensed Matter in Paris in 2014, we expect a large turnout. CMD 26 will reserve specific attention to the energy problem. An important role will be reserved for young physicists, with the participation of the EPS Young Minds project.

Call for minicolloquia at CMD 26

Similarly to CMD 25 / Condensed Matter in Paris, you are kindly requested to propose Mini-colloquia in your field of interest for CMD 26 before November 6th, 2015. Minicolloquia are topical sessions gathering between 40 and 100 people around a field of condensed matter physics that is of particular current interest. While the CMD 26 organising committee takes care of hosting and all logistics the community at large is responsible for the scientific programme of the Minicolloquium, and notably for the choice of invited and contributed talks as well as for the poster session.

Minicolloquia at CMD 26 must be proposed by a minimum of 2, and a maximum of 4 co-organizers, not from the same laboratory, 1 of whom should be from the Netherlands, and the others from at least one other European country. Depending on affluence, minicolloquia take up one or several 3-hour sessions during the conference program, with 30’ and 15’ slots for invited and contributed talks respectively. Organisers are responsible for raising funds that are possibly needed for travel and invitations.

The Minicolloquia proposals shall be refereed by the members of the CMD 26 organising committee. A decision as to programming of the proposal, or possible merger with another proposal will be taken on November 12th, 2015. Minicolloquia proposers will receive notification immediately afterwards, and be allotted a contact within the CMD Board. A Minicolloquium Charter stipulating the modus operandi and general rules will be posted on the CMD26 website.
If you intend,to propose a Minicolloquium, please send the names, affiliations, and email of,the prospective organizers, together with a half-page description of the title,,topic, scope, and expected attendance of the Minicolloquium, to CMD26@rug.nl, before November 6th, 2015.
