During the week 16th-20th of September 2019 the course «Emergence of Quantum Phases in Novel Materials» will take place at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM-CSIC). This is the fifth edition of the course, previously held in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017.
The goal of the course is to give an overview of the most relevant phenomena associated to the electronic interactions (Mott localization, superconductivity, magnetism, Kondo effect, phase transitions, …), and to the topological properties of novel materials (topological insulators and superconductors and Weyl semimetals). The course is addressed to both experimentalists and theorists.
The language of the Course will be English. As in previous years the lectures will be given by members of the Theory and Simulations Department of ICMM, María José Calderón, Ramón Aguado, Belén Valenzuela, Alberto Cortijo and Leni Bascones
