We are delighted to announce the SPICE-Workshop on “Exotic New States in Superconducting Devices: The Age of the Interface» which will be held from 25th-28th of September 2017 at the Schloß Waldthausen, Mainz.
At the interface between a superconductor and a non-superconducting material such as a ferromagnet, a topological insulator or a semiconductor, a range of electronic states can be induced which are radically different from either constituent material. To be able to probe these states requires a broad range of expertise, spanning basic materials science to fundamental physics modelling of interfaces and transport behaviour. At this meeting, we bring together scientists working on distinct and overlapping areas, such as superconductivity, magnetism, topological materials, quantum computing, and spin-electronics.
SPICE will provide accommodation and catering for the duration of the workshop for each participant at the beautiful location of the Schloß Waldthausen in Mainz.
Applications to participate in the workshop must be made online before the 15th of June 2017 (https://www.spice.uni-mainz.de/ens-workshop-2017-home/). We will inform the applicants of acceptance by June 30th, 2017. Participation fee for non-speakers is 500 euros (includes lodging).
