We are looking for highly motivated PhD students with a solid background in condensed matter physics and strong interest in experimental physics. The goal of the PhD project will be the use of scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS) in combination with transport measurements to probe the surface states in quantum materials and characterize their interaction with carefully chosen substrates. The most part of this experimental work will be developed at the innovative and multidisciplinary atmosphere of the IMDEA-Nanoscience institute, an interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to the exploration of basic nanoscience and the development of applications of nanotechnology in connection with innovative industries. However, candidate will also collaborate with international theoretical and experimental groups.
The positions will be available immediately. Please if you are interested contact Dr. Manuela Garnica (manuela.garnica@imdea.org) or Prof. Amadeo L. Vázquez de Parga (al.vazquezdeparga@imdea.org).
