Applicants are invited for an opening as a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Michigan State University (MSU). The position is available starting from the summer of 2015. Currently, the condensed matter theory group at MSU includes Mark Dykman, Phillip Duxbury, Alex Levchenko, Bhanu Mahanti, Carlo Piermarocchi, and David Tomanek. We have strong ties between the groups including our experimental colleagues which offers flexibility in the choice of research projects. The candidate is expected to collaborate with Asst. Prof. Levchenko to work on nonequilibrium phenomena in strongly correlated systems. Information about Levchenko’s research profile can be found at http://www.pa.msu.edu/cmp/people/levchenko.html. Specific applications may include research topics such as transport in nonlinear Luttinger liquids, hydrodynamic description of two-dimensional systems, kinetics of unconventional and topological superconductors. The initial appointment will be for two years, but may be renewable for an additional year, depending on availability of funding and progress made. Please apply at https://jobs.msu.edu and search for the posting number 0015. The applicants are expected to complete their PhD by the start date of an appointment and should demonstrate proficiency in carrying research in theoretical condensed matter physics. In application please include CV with the list of publications and brief research statement as a single pdf-file. Applicants should also arrange for two reference letters. There is no formal deadline and applications will be considered in the order received until the position is filled.
