The Group of Magnetic Materials at UC seeks a highly qualified candidate for a postdoctoral position for a Large research project funded by EU. The NanoMag project brings together Europe’s and internationally leading experts in: manufacturing of magnetic single-core and multi-core nanoparticles, characterisation of magnetic nanostructures and national metrology institutes.
The main focus is to characterise magnetic nanoparticles by SANS of samples produced by other partners and correlate with X-ray and Neutron diffraction, magnetisation and susceptibility measurements. The post-doctoral fellowship will be running for at least 12 months (and will be located at Departamento CITIMAC at Universidad Cantabria.
Requirements: The candidate should be either a EU citizen or a national from a country with free circulation EU agreements (applicable in Spain). Other nationals should possess a working permit in EU.
Qualified candidates must have received a PhD degree in one of the following: Material Science , Physics or Chemistry. It is a requirement to have knowledge in SANS of nanoparticles/nanomaterials. The experience in Rietveld refinement of neutron data will be valuable as well. Previous experience in the field of magnetic nanoparticles is an advantage, including the study of nanometric Fe-oxides for biomedicine and use of XRD and/or SAXS.
Other qualifications: Use of magnetometry techniques. We are looking for an independent researcher who is energetic, innovative and good at building relations. The candidate is required to possess excellent communicative skills (both written and oral). Spanish is not needed but English is required. Furthermore, a genuine interest for industrial applications and customer contacts is desirable.
Information on the post will be provided by Project Leader: Dr. Luis Fernández Barquín, email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please send your (email) application including: 1) application form COIE; 2) CV; 3)DNI/Passport/Permit; 4) PhD Degree certification, to: COIE, Human Resources UC, email: email@example.com as soon as possible but no later than 21 November 2014, enter reference number N140.
The Group of Magnetism at UC is located in Santander (northern Spain) and holds experience in magnetic nanoparticles and a suite of experimental techniques for their characterization including SQUID, PPMS and XRD instruments (and TEM). The Group is also a frequent user of Large Facilities
