A 2-year postdoctoral position is available at the Condensed Matter Physics Center (IFIMAC) of the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (UAM) in Rubén Pérez’s group (www.uam.es/spmth). The postdoc will work on theory and simulations of atomic force microscopy (AFM).

The ability of AFM with functionalized tips to disclose the inner structure of molecules has led to a revolution in the study of Molecular Chemistry. In this project, combining DFT calculations with advance computational models, we plan to develop a method to interpret, analyse and, finally, disclose the chemical structure and properties of molecular systems from AFM experiments.

The position is funded by the Comunidad de Madrid (Madrid Regional Government).  This project is performed in collaboration with Quasar Science Resources S.L.

Applicants are expected to have a PhD in solid-state physics or computational chemistry and background in DFT calculations and quantum chemistry. Additionally, experience on scanning probe microscopy will be valued. We are looking for highly motivated applicants that enjoy working in close collaboration with world-leading experimental groups.

Applications and requests for further information should be sent to:
