Outstanding candidates are sought for a unique one-year experimental postdoctoral opportunity for collaborative work in the field of advanced permanent magnetic materials.

This project engages Rogers Corporation to build closer linkages between academic research at Northeastern University, industry know-how, and commercialization of research. In this manner materials solutions to address global challenges for clean energy and safety and security will be pursued and accelerated.

Successful candidates will possesses a doctorate degree in Physics or Materials Science or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field and have knowledge of magnetism, metallurgy and nanoscience. It is desired that he or she possess expertise in a majority of the following areas: metallurgical synthesis and materials characterization employing standard laboratory techniques, including x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermal analysis, force microscopy and magnetometry. U.S. citizenship is not required; good spoken and written English is required. In addition to experimental research and analysis, key responsibilities include oversight of graduate and undergraduate students, interdisciplinary and strategic interaction with collaborators (university and industrial), and preparation of research results for peer-reviewed publication and presentations at domestic and international conferences. Considerable skill in working interactively and productively in a multidisciplinary environment is required.
