Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Position in the Physics Department at the University of Toronto for Theoretical Research in the Science and Applications of Photonic Crystals. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. with background in condensed matter physics, quantum optics, computational electrodynamics, and/or photonics. Successful candidates will engage in full time research with Prof. Sajeev John in strong light-matter interactions in photonic crystals and light trapping effects. Applications include solar energy harvesting, lab-on-a-chip optical bio-sensing and room temperature Bose-Einstein condensation. Familiarity with numerical and computational methods is required. A more detailed description of recent research can be found at www.physics.utoronto.ca/~john. Successful candidates are also expected to have strong communication skills in order to interact effectively with graduate students and collaborating international experimental groups. The normal duration of these appointments is 2-3 years, renewable on a yearly basis.

Interested candidates should send their CV and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to: Prof. Sajeev John (contact details in www.physics.utoronto.ca/~john).
