Research description:

The goal of our research is to elucidate the laws of magnetism, optics, and electronics at the scale of atoms and molecules. We use low-temperature Scanning-Probe Microscopy to study the basic quantum phenomena behind the macroscopic behavior of matter and to manipulate their basic atomic components. Our research lines study  the  magnetism of individual atoms and molecules, and their interaction with superconducting surfaces, the atomic-scale construction  of quantum devices using  atomic and molecular nanostructures, the understanding of light matter-interaction at nanometer length-scales, and the study  of complex phenomena in novel 2D materials.
