PhD Position on

Spin Coherence and Quantum Control in Graphene Nanostructures

Individual nuclear and electronic spins, embedded by design in a graphene nanostructure of custom shape, can talk to each other coherently, with strong potential to build up collective quantum modes and act as quantum registries.

The Quantum Probe Microscopy group at CIC nanoGUNE (Donostia / San Sebastián) is opening a PhD position to join the experimental programme of the ERC project CONSPIRA — a project that combines on-surface synthesis of atomically precise graphene nanostructures with a unique experimental platform integrating low-temperature Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy (STM), Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) and superconducting circuit Quantum Electrodynamics (cQED) at sub-Kelvin temperatures.

The PhD project will use this novel ESR-STM-QED instrument to demonstrate the coherent control of collective spin states in graphene-based quantum platforms.

We are looking for motivated candidates with a background in Physics, Quantum Technology or related areas. Previous experience in microwave techniques, cryogenics or quantum devices will be especially valued.
