Iowa State University has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Associate starting in 2016/17. Applicants must have completed their PhD in physics or related areas before the starting date of the position. The research focus of my group is on the theory of strongly correlated quantum materials. We are particularly interested in the effects of competing interactions on electronic properties and in understanding their non-equilibrium dynamics. To address these questions, we employ both analytical field theoretical techniques such as the renormalization group and numerical methods such as Monte-Carlo simulations.

The lively condensed matter research environment at Iowa State University and the Ames Laboratory is unique in hosting a number of world-leading experimental groups on material synthesis, neutron scattering, ARPES and ultrafast dynamics, with which we collaborate.

More information about the work of the hosting group can be found under https://orth.physics.iastate.edu/.

The position is expected to last for up to two years, initial appointment is for one year (1+1). If you are interested in joining my team as a Postdoc, please write me an email including CV and a brief research statement to porth@iastate.edu.
