We look for a highly motivated student willing to perform an experimental PhD in Physics in the area of Condensed Matter at University of Zurich, Switzerland.
The PhD student will be working in the rapidly developing field of interface engineering of transition metal oxides. The research project will focus on the study of the physical properties of novel (double)perovskite oxide heterostructures (i.e. thin films, superlattices). The successful candidate will be involved in setting up a new deposition system, sample growth and advanced characterization of the electronic properties of the oxide heterostructures.
The student will be based in the stimulating multidisciplinary environment of University of Zurich. The research will also benefit from proximity to other outstanding poles of research (i.e. ETH, PSI) and strong collaborations with international experimental and theory groups. Measurements in synchrotron are also planned, as well as participation in schools and international conferences.
To be a successful candidate, you should posses an excellent academic record, very good communicative skills and strong self-motivation. A master’s degree, preferably in physics, is required and a solid background in condensed matter physics is highly recommended. High proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
We look forward to receiving your application including a cover letter (indicating motivation and skills), a CV (including your grades) and the contact details of two academic referees.
